Virat, Irfan shines in India’s win

Latest News : Great batting performance by Virat Kohli and Indian fast bowlers’ good line and length helped India to register an easy win over Sri Lanka in the only T-20 bout here at Pallekele.

It was Ashoke Dinda and Irfan Pathan who took four and three wickets respectively to bowl out Sri Lanka for only 116 runs.

Earlier, after early departure of Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane put up a good stand. Then Suresh Raina had helped Virat Kohli to put up a competitive score on the scoreboard. Virat Kohli’s impressive half century helped India to put up 155 runs.

This series meant a great come back for Irfan Pathan. His 3/27 helped him to become a most wicket taker in T 20 internationals for India. He got his confidence back in this tour. He scored runs at a crucial time and took important and early wickets for India.

Early departure of Dilshan eased some pressure from Indian pace attack. Upul Tharanga also couldn’t manage to impress the crowd and went early, but Jayawardene showed some class and temperament but judged leg before wicket. Jayawerdene looked unhappy and decision was actually a bit harsh but umpire was sure about his verdict. After Jayawerdene, Angelo Mathews tried hard but couldn’t manage to continue his form and he too, departed for an important 31. Then no other Sri Lankan batsmen managed to stay at the crease and Sri Lanka fell short of 39 runs. Ashoke Dinada took 4 wickets and proved his capability to the selectors.

Kohli looked in a in supreme form. He was hitting boundaries like anything. Every Sri Lankan bowler was not impressive before Kohli.
