Apocalypse for Indian cricket here as One of the game’s all-time greats Sachin Tendulkar, on Sunday announced his retirement from one-day international cricket. His retirement will bring an end to a splendid and glorious 23 year old career. Sachin’s this glorious career set up numerous records which can’t be broken as if now.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement of Sachin mentioning that, “I have decided to retire from the One-Day format of the game. I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team. The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest.”
“I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years.” Sachin added.
Sachin, who has been hailed by everyone in the game, since his entry into this great game of cricket. He is considered as the traditional as well as the contemporary batsman, all in all Sachin is the most complete batsman in the game of cricket. His playing style was compared with the legendary sir Donald Bradman, and also been called as the next Bradman, retires from the ODI format at the top of the run-getters’ list.
Tendulkar’s illustrated career says it all. He scored 18,426 runs in 463 one-day internationals with an average of 44.83. Till date, he scored 49 centuries in this one day format, which includes a double hundred.
