Mumbai: The huge sculpture of a sparrow is grabbing the eye balls of Mumbaikars as this sculpture is installed at the entrance of ongoing Kala Ghoda Festival. Sparrows Shelters has created this huge sculpture to make more and more people aware about the sparrows. This 15 feet sculpture is rapidly becoming an attraction of Kala Ghoda.
This organisation called Sparrow Shelters is doing these awareness programmes since many years. They have also approached Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan and requested to make sparrow as the state bird.
The sparrow is slowly disappearing from our neighbourhoods because of the rapid industrial developments and pollution.
Till now prominent personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Madhuri Dikshit-Nene have also understood the importance of Sparrows from Sparrows Shelter. They are also making awareness among the people for the conservation of sparrows.
The organisation’s president Pramod Mane said that, “The purpose of the sculpture is to aware people of our society to save small chirpy birds in our city. Do visit Kala Ghoda Art Festival and see what we are upto to protect small birds and and how we trying to take our initiative to next level.
